SCOUDOUC RIVER CANOE CLUB CONSTITUTION |

Sec 1: NAME OF ORGANIZATION/OBJECT OF ORGANIZATION:
|

1a: Scoudouc River Canoe Club 1b: To promote the sport of paddling and to serve as a means of meeting people with the same interests.
|
Sec 2: OFFICERS, THEIR ELECTION AND DUTIES:
|

2a: President - It is the duty of the President to call the meeting to order at the appointed time, to preside at all the meetings, to announce the business before the assembly in its proper order, to state and put all questions properly brought before the assembly, to preserve order, to decide questions of order (subject to appeal), to announce all business, to put motions to vote and give results and signature when necessary.
2b: Vice President - It is the duty of the Vice President to assist the President in performing his or her duties and preside over the club in the absence of the president.
2c: Secretary - To keep minutes of the meeting, to take roll call, to read minutes of previous meeting, to read important correspondence, to record the name of the member who introduced a motion and to record the seconder. To notify committees of their appointments and business. To take charge of all documents belonging to the organization. To sign official documents of the organization when requested. To call a meeting to order in the absence of the President and the Vice-President and preside over the meeting.
2d: Treasurer - To receive and bank all moneys due to the organization. To keep bookkeeping records of such funds. To pay bill from officers and committee members only when clearly authorized and when receipts for expenditures are attached. To disburse all moneys as the organization may direct. To give a statement of finance as often as required. To give a complete financial report at the Annual Meeting.

Sec 4: DUTIES AND RIGHTS OF MEMBERS:

4a: Duties: To obtain the floor before speaking. To avoid speaking upon any matter until it is properly brought before the house by a motion. To keep on the question then pending. To yield the floor to calls of order. To avoid disturbing speakers of the assembly. And to maintain a positive attitude when promoting the clubs objectives and interests.
4b: Rights: Every member has the right to participate in the activities and programs of the club and to promote the objectives of the club. Only members may vote at any election conducted within the club. |

Sec 1: ELECTIONS:

1a: Elections must be held on or before March 31 of each year. 1b: Nominations must come from the floor and do not need to be seconded. The order of nominations for officers will be in the following order: President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer. Before nominations begin a nomination committee must be appointed. When nominations have been completed, the assembly will proceed to the election, voting by ballot. All members of the current Executive have the right to vote. The nomination committee will tally all votes and will be recorded by the secretary. The term of office for elected officers begins at the close of the meeting.

Sec 2: MEMBERHIP DUES:

Dues must be paid on or before the Annual Scoudouc River Run or by April 30 whichever is the later of the two.
|
Sec 3: AMENDMENTS OR SUSPENSION OF CONSTITUTION & BYLAWS:
|

The rules of the Assembly shall not be suspended except for a definite purpose, and by 50% plus 1 of members present at the meeting, minimum 9 members must be present; nor shall any rule be suspended, unless by a unanimious consent, that gives any right to a minority. Any motion for amendments or suspensions may be adopted during the same meeting. Any motion for additions to constitution and bylaws may not be adopted during the same meeting.

Sec 4: EXPENDITURES:

Any disbursements of moneys under $500 must be approved by the executive. All disbursements of moneys over the amount of $500 dollars must be pre-authorized by the membership, by a show of hands or vote.
